Never give up

Hi, my name is Laura, I am 26 years old. I wanted to share with you my story working at ubu…

I started at ubu in November 2014 as a part-time enabler as well as at college full-time studying. When I started at ubu I was a very shy person and didn’t think that I was fit to be an enabler. After a few confidence-boosting chats I thought I CAN do this.

Anyway, from here I finished college then became a full-time enabler and leading a shift.. shortly after I became the assistant service manager.. never in my life did I think I would be asked to be an assistant manager. This is a girl who didn’t pass her GCSEs, whose friends always was ‘better’ than her to become in the management team.

This is when I started to feel like I was shining, I knew I could do and give more. After 2-3 years of being an assistant service manager, I went for the role of the service manager of one of the biggest supports in Leeds. Guess what…. I did it

Ubu has supported me through the good and the bad, they have helped me see my potential and how if you want to succeed within a company you can. As I was quite young when joining ubu I feel I have been taught life skills I will have for the rest of my life.

The point of my story is never to give up, when you want something grab it with all your power and go for it! No matter what anyone says to you.
