Hello, I'm Carl, and I want to share my story with you—a journey that led me from a place of dissatisfaction to genuine contentment and happiness.
Not too long ago, I found myself living in an environment that just didn't feel right for me. Everyone tried very hard to help me but despite my efforts to fit in, this environment just wasn’t working for me. I became more and more frustrated, I felt I was unable to truly be myself, and I knew I deserved something different. I had support to make the decision to change things up and find an alternative place to live where I could be more independent.
Moving to my new space was a game-changer. Suddenly, I had the freedom to spend my time how I wanted. I could pursue the activities that I enjoyed without having to worry about what everyone else was doing around me. My 1:1 time with my enablers was purely my 1:1 time and the focus was just about me. Having a structured activity planner in place has helped me stay organized and make the most of each day. Also, what has really made a difference is having my own front door. It may seem like a small thing, but having a space that was truly mine has given me a sense of ownership and control over my life like never before.
I didn't make this journey alone. Behind me was a dedicated team of staff members and my family who supported me every step of the way. Their encouragement, guidance, and belief in my abilities gave me the strength to push forward, even when things got tough. Knowing that I had their support made all the difference. The transformation in my life has been incredible. I used to feel restless and unsettled, but now, there's a sense of peace and contentment that I never knew was possible. And having the support of those around me has made all the difference—I couldn't have done it without them.
