My volunteer work

Hi, my name is Carl and I live in Lancashire. I would like to share a story about my volunteer work.

Ever since beginning my support with ubu, I have always expressed a passion for working with animals and about helping others. My support team helped me to find suitable opportunities, and when opportunities were found to volunteer in both of these areas I knew it was the perfect fit for me.

One of my volunteer roles is serving meals at the Salvation Army. It's a small way that I can give back to my community and help those in need. It's also a great opportunity for me to work on my social skills and build relationships with others. The staff at the Salvation Army have been incredibly supportive and accommodating of my needs. They work with me to ensure that I'm comfortable in the role and that I have everything I need to be effective in my role.

My other volunteer role is working with animals at a local farm. This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to do it. I get to spend time with hens, horses, cows, and sheep. I feed them, sort their bedding out, and muck them out. I also enjoy playing with them! It's incredibly rewarding to see the difference that my work does and the benefit my work has on the animals.

And, once again, the staff at the shelter have been amazing. They recognize my passion for animals and work with me to ensure that I'm comfortable with the tasks I have to do.

Overall, I feel incredibly fortunate to have these two volunteer roles. They allow me to pursue my passions and give back to my community. And I couldn't have done it without the support of my support staff who have recognized my potential and believed in me every step of the way.
