Life was meant for good friends and great adventures

During the Covid 19 pandemic, a lot of the things we enjoy in our lives came to an abrupt standstill. This included meeting up with friends and family or going out for a drink or a meal. This brought on a lot of isolation and anxiety for a lot of us. To help overcome this ubu introduced an online activity timetable through Microsoft Teams.

These activities have created many opportunities for everyone who has participated. This has included learning new skills with arts and crafts such as making a Christmas wreath, having sing-alongs, and cookery and baking.

The activities have also helped a lot of people to overcome a sense of isolation and enabled people to make new friends. Simon from Harrogate and Sean from Settle have developed a close friendship through participating in the ‘Bake off’ and ‘pampering’ activities. Simon and Sean have developed this into enjoying a joke and a chat with each other.

With support from both Simon and Sean’s support teams they both decided to finally meet up in person for the first time. Everybody agreed to meet in the City of Leeds. Simon caught the train to Leeds from Harrogate and Sean caught the train to Leeds from Settle.

Everyone met at Leeds Railway Station on schedule and decided to head to one of the many pubs in Leeds for some lunch and a drink. Scampi, Chips, and Peas was the favourite thing on the menu to order.

It was great finally meeting up in person with everyone sharing a meal and having a chat and a joke with each other. Both Simon and Sean say they would like to meet up again in the near future possibly in Skipton this time.
