Cosy Home, Job Triumphs, and Thrilling Volunteer Opportunities!
Hey everyone, it's June here, and I've got a fresh chapter in my book to share with you! I recently made a move into a new area, settling into a cosy apartment with fantastic support from ubu.
First things first – making my new place feel like home. With the help of my incredible Enablers, we dove into the world of wallpaper and decorating. And guess what? I've turned my space into a haven that I absolutely love.
Now, let me take you on a journey through my story. Life's thrown a few curveballs my way, with its fair share of challenges, ups, and downs. But here I am, feeling settled, happy, and totally in love with my new home.
With a newfound sense of stability, I decided it was time to venture back into the world of work. I started applying for various positions, and that's when one of my enablers came across a meet-and-greet job at a local centre. I love a good chat, and helping people is second nature to me. With the support of my enablers, I went through the application process, and to my delight, I got an interview. My staff had my back, helping me prepare and even booking a taxi. I wanted to tackle it on my own, and I aced it and got offered the position!
There's a bit more excitement in my life – I've landed a volunteer gig at a local day centre - I’m the friendly face at the reception, welcoming visitors with a smile, answering phones, and giving tours. It's a big responsibility, but I thrive on it. Plus, I'll be diving into various training courses to level up my skills – from safeguarding and disability awareness to even first aid. Talk about a thrilling opportunity!
I'm beyond excited about this role and can't wait to see where it takes me in the future.
Looking ahead, I am hopeful that as I continue to do this, I will increase the number of places I go to without my staff support, opening up opportunities for me to start leading my life the way I want to!
