We are making shortlisting easier, kinder and much fairer. Our new online shortlisting interview lets you record your answers yourself, in your own time and at your own pace. You are in control. You can take a breath, think about what you want to say and, if you are not happy with an answer, you can delete it once and record it again. It is simple, flexible and designed to help us meet the real you.
Let’s be honest. Traditional interviews can feel horrible. They can make brilliant people feel nervous, rushed and smaller than they really are. You worry about being late, finding the right place, saying the right thing and somehow squeezing your whole personality, passion and potential into a short conversation with people you have only just met.
That does not always bring out the best in people. So we are doing something better. At ubu, we are using a simple online video shortlisting interview. Instead of travelling to an interview or feeling put on the spot, you can record your answers wherever you feel comfortable. It is easy to use, and it gives you the space to show your warmth, values and personality in your own words.
No Rush
This is your shortlisting interview, and you are in control of it. You answer the questions online, when it suits you. There is no rush. You can read the question, think, record your answer and, if it does not feel right, delete it once and have another go. No racing across town. No anxious waiting rooms. No pressure to produce the perfect answer in the perfect moment.
Instead, candidates are invited to respond to carefully chosen questions that help us understand what really matters. Not just experience on paper, but values, energy, kindness, courage, communication, responsibility and the desire to help people live great lives. And the best bit?
You can breathe. You can think. You can re-record yourself again. It means you do not have to worry if your first try does not sound like you. You get the chance to pause, reset and share your answer in a way that feels more natural.
