The Human Need Of Happiness - Value life now and enable people to live happily

I have for many years been inspired by the reflections of the Dalai Lama, finding that he brings such great simplicity and perspective when others seem to strive to make life so complex, inhuman and incomprehensible.

I recently read that he said when he was asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered:

"Man because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he doesn't enjoy the present' the result being he doesn't live in the present or the future' he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies never really having lived"

All too often we are seeing in our daily news how cheap life seems to be becoming. The soul and purpose of our existence appears to be diluting so rapidly that our own humanity, reference to the value and purpose of life are all disappearing so fast. Life is so short and rushes past us so fast that the amount of time we have gets lost and therefore gets devalued.

As our mission at ubu is to provide support and services to others it is essential that we take this on board and ensure that we keep our focus on being led by those we serve so we do not slip into devaluing their basic human need for happiness as well as our own.
