I was chosen as one of the recipients of Remit's SHOOTING STAR AWARD for Health and Social Care.
Here's what Katrina wrote for the award.
As a nation, we all appreciate that our Carers face some of the toughest conditions to work and learn in and at Remit we have nothing but admiration for our employers and learners in this sector. We’re delighted to be showcasing one of our inspirational learners working in Health and Social Care, Joy O’Brien for Remit Shooting Stars Award 2022.
Joy has shown commitment and dedication throughout her entire qualification, she has taken great pride in all aspects of her qualification. Joy lacked confidence in herself at the beginning but as she progressed through her learning journey she has grown in knowledge, skills and confidence, this is reflected in her practice.
Joy also completed her functional skills at level 2, she completed learning, revised and she achieved excellent results, she is currently in EPA, where she is on track to achieve with DISTINCTION.
I have witnessed Joy overcome her self-doubt and grow in both her role as a support worker and personally in her confidence. Joy is kind, considerate, caring individual, she strives to provide the very best standard of care and support.
Joy describes her L3 NVQ in Health and Social Care as a privilege. Lacking in confidence following a career change, she is now a Assistant Support Team Leader with UBU and she goes on to say “I am forever grateful to UBU, my tutor and Remit for being incredibly supportive in my learning journey. The units and modules were interactive, fun and substantially informative. What I appreciate most is the entire course provides various creative opportunities for me to grow both personally and professionally.”
Congratulations to Joy we can’t wait to see where her skills take her. To all Carers this Christmas, thank you, we think you’re quite simply amazing and are all Shooting Stars!
