Welcome to July; the month when school children and teachers alike celebrate the end of another years- worth of hard work to begin their summer holidays. It’s also the month when the music festival season kicks into full swing (in the wake of Glastonbury).

As befits the summer holidays starting, July is also National Ice Cream Month. So grab yourself a frozen treat and read on!

13th July: Ascension of Jesus (Orthodox Christian)

15th July: Saint Swithin’s Day (Christian)

16th July: Tishi B’Av (Judaism)

19th July: Jamshedi Noruz (Qadimi Zoroastrian)

21st July: Litha (Wicca/Pagan Northern Hemisphere) and Yule (Wicca/Pagan Southern Hemisphere)

22nd July: St Mary Magdalene (Christian) and Asala – Dharma Day (Buddhist)

23rd July: Birthday of Guru Har Krishen (Sikh) and Birthday of Haile Selassie (Rastafari)

24th July: Pioneer Day (Mormon Christian) and Lallat al Bara’ah (Islam)

30th July: Friendship Day (secular)

July is also recognised around the world as Make a Difference to Children Month, Family Reunion Month and, as mentioned earlier, National Ice Cream Month!
