Today we reached the end of our first week of Christmas festivities with tree-mendous excitement among the elves today, who were preparing two handsome Christmas trees ready to be decorated by our guests. We made two teams of decorators and competed for the ‘best dressed’ tree. We reckon that you can understand, from seeing our photographs, here that when it came to judging, it was impossible to say which tree looked best. They both shone with jingling baubles, swags of tinsel and fairy lights.
Our song of the day was “Jingle Bell Rock” a favourite karaoke standard with many people in the room, spreading the Christmas cheer with voices raised and the singing loud for all to hear. There was plenty of dancing and prancing about too and even our ‘living’ Christmas trees swayed to the beat!
Gina, one of our elves, who has successfully achieved one of her goals to find therapeutic work, served warming cups of vegetable soup and bread which everyone seemed to enjoy. Then it was time to watch a short video presentation from ubu Lincoln about their charity nomination which this year is for Lincolnshire Air Ambulance Service. It is a vital service which provides emergency transportation by helicopter throughout Lincolnshire. Our video had the story of a typical day of call-outs for the Air Ambulance Service. ubu is proud to support this organisation with a donation of £50 which was made to them a couple of weeks ago by a group of people served by ubu.
With the bustling of guests all busily engaged with conversations, dancing and singing, we began to say farewell as people started to leave. On their way out, an elf gave everyone a beautiful crystal decoration to take home which was roundly appreciated by all. We’re taking a short break from our 15 Days of Christmas festivities over the weekend, but we are anticipating some more fantastic events very soon.
