National Voter Registration Day

30th January 2015

A new study co-funded by the Electoral Commission found that many of the one million people with learning disabilities in England and Wales who are entitled to vote are effectively disenfranchised by the political process.

It identifies a low awareness of the right to vote as one of the "barriers" that needs to be overcome to increase participation.

Now more than ever, with NHS and council cuts disproportionately impacting the lives of vulnerable people, the voices of the people we serve must be heard in the next General Election on May 7th.

National Voter Registration Day is about making as much noise as possible through hosting registration rallies.

Registration rallies are vital in bringing communities together and empowering as many people as possible.

There are already too many unnecessary barriers when it comes to getting involved in democracy. The aim of rallies is to remove these barriers, making voter registration as easy and engaging as possible

ubu is committed to helping spread the word on voting rights and hosting registration rallies in our communities.
