People served by ubu have an amazing range of hobbies and interests. Here is a story from one of those remarkable people, Margaret, who lives in the North East.
“Last year I set myself a goal to have a greenhouse of my own. I knew that I wanted to grow fruit and vegetables that I could enjoy at home and share with my friends”.
“I had researched the different types and styles of greenhouse before I made my choice. I knew that no matter what, I was determined that mine be green in colour. It took a while looking at the different alternatives available, but eventually I found the perfect one. I bought a large greenhouse and was very excited when a man came to put it up for me in my garden”.
“In preparation, I had made a plan of exactly what I wanted to grow. I went to my local garden centre and bought some seed packets and compost. I carefully followed the instructions about how to plant the seeds and keep them watered every day”.
“It was exciting watching my new plants sprout and begin to grow. I made special labels which had photographs of the vegetables I had planted. The labels let me know what kind of leaf shapes I was looking for when the plants began to emerge from the soil. Eventually my vegetable plants started to get bigger and I continued to keep a check on them every day”.
“I love spending time in my greenhouse, watching the plants and listening to the birds outside. I also like sharing the progress and experience of my gardening with my friends and family. Finally, this week my vegetables were ready to eat, they were lovely, I had tender fresh carrots and I roasted some of my tomato crop for dinner”.
