Nottingham City Hospital: Neonatal Unit

13th December 2013

We recently visited the City Hospital in Nottingham to present ubu’s Christmas donation cheque to the Neonatal Unit. The specialised ward dedicated to the treatment of premature and sick new-born babies. The unit is divided into different treatment areas. Each bay can accommodate several babies and a named team of nurses and doctors will be allocated to care for your baby.

We told them about ubu; who we are, how we support our customers within the local community and why we had chosen to present the donation to them. The Nurses that we met expressed their gratitude and when asked if they knew how they would spend the money they replied that they desperately needed soft toys and breast feeding chairs and that this would be used toward purchasing either of these items.

Gordon one of our customers presented the cheque along with Betty and Linda to Margaret the Ward Manager and other nursing staff on the Ward.

We were then showed around the Unit, Gordon was so excited to see the tiny new born babies, he asked lots of questions and was given information by the nurses who incidentally had only eyes for him, on leaving we were thanked again very warmly and asked by the staff to pass on their grateful thanks to ubu.
