Welcome to June! Marking the halfway point for the year, June is also ‘National Smile Month’. This may be due to the fact that this month sees the day with the most hours of daylight, or is it that the summer holiday season has almost arrived? Either way we’ll all be brandishing big smiles all month long!

5th June: Lallat al Miraj (Islam) and World Environment Day (Secular)

7th June: Sacred Heart of Jesus (Catholic Christian)

12th June: Dragan Boat Festival (Duanwu)

14th June: World Blood Donor Day (Secular)

16th June: Guru Arjan Dev martyrdom (Sikh) and Father’s Day (Secular – UK)

17th June: World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (Secular)

19th June: New Church Day (Swedenborgian Christian)

21st June: Summer Solstice, Litha (Wicca Northern hemisphere) and Yule (Wicca Southern hemisphere)

23rd June: Lallat al Bara’ah (Islam) and Pentecost (Orthodox Christian)

29th June: Saints Peter and Paul (Christian)

30th June: All Saints (Orthodox Christian)

June is also recognised around the world as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month and National Smile Month.
