My name is Sarah and I’m delighted to say I have the most amazing voluntary job!
I’m a coach for one of our therapy dogs, Chutzpah. Like a lot of people Chutzpah works hard to keep himself fit and healthy including keeping that little extra weight from skyrocketing!
Because he was very ill when he was a puppy which damaged his digestive system. it is hard for him to keep healthy and fit. One of the ways he does keep fit is through hydrotherapy … he goes swimming and as his coach I get to keep fit too!
It is a nice place to take Chutzpah, we have a nice walk before our swim to get plenty of fresh air in his lungs.
I love my voluntary job as his coach, it’s amazing I get to meet new people and learn new skills from Jeanette who is the therapist and swims with Chutzpah. Jeanette talks me through how she is monitoring Chutzpah’s heart rate, his pulse and even his breathing so I can tell myself now when he’s getting tired.
it’s great to work together with Chutzpah and Jeanette. We are all partners together.
My role is such an important one and I absolutely love it! Being a coach means that Chutzpah trusts me to help him manage his activity while his swimming.
We communicate together and I love being a part of his success … it’s a great feeling to cheer him on and see him improve week by week!
I have known Chutzpah for a long time and I feel really privileged that he picked me to be his coach.
He is my friend and we make a great team together.
I help him and he most definitely helps me!
