An inspirational meeting

7th April 2014

Just as the words from ubu’s Zumba song say, us lot down in the East Midlands love to Fire it Up! Anything that gets us involved, engaged, active and having loads of fun is right up our street.

Recently this attitude led a few of us to get involved in a local leisure centre’s sports day. This was a packed day with a varied itinerary that saw us learn about relaxation therapy, take part in archery classes and have an old fashioned kick-about on a football pitch.

It’s fair to say that we were energised and inspired to the max! But then came a wonderful surprise; whilst having a drink we were greeted by none other than British Paralympian Jamie Carter!

He told us that he has been competing for the country since age 17 and told us of his great accomplishments.

Jamie gave us all an autographed certificate for our efforts during the day and as you can see, had his picture taken with all of us (Tracey even sat on his knee!).

We came away more fired up than ever to get involved and get active as often as possible.
