A problem-solving, guardian angel

3rd November 2015

The inspiring story of Allen Parton and Endal, his ‘problem-solving’ assistance dog was featured on the BBC News not long after Allen had been knocked out of his wheelchair by a car. This video shows a reconstruction of how Endal helped his owner and raised the alarm to get further assistance. Mr Parton describes his dog Endal as a “four-legged  guardian angel”.

ubu has long recognised the benefits of pet therapy and amazing contributions made by assistance dogs. We are fortunate to have PAT (Pets As Therapy) dogs and believe that that they make a really valuable contribution, not only to the welfare and comfort of team members who work here but also most importantly to the people we serve who come to visit us.

Endal who was just four years old at the time was later honoured with the Dog of the Millennium award and Allen went on to launch the charity Hounds for Heroes which gives people who have served their Queen and Country in conflicts around the world, the opportunity to benefit from a problem-solving best friend like Endal.
