Hi everyone, I’m Stephen and recently I have been looking long and hard for a voluntary position that would be right for me.
It’s true that there are a good deal of voluntary jobs available but I didn’t want to just take one for the sake of it, as I know that if I did that I might not enjoy it and would definitely not get as much out of it in terms of learning and personal development.
During my search I looked at many places and made a great deal of enquiries but I was struggling to find something that really clicked with me; something that made me say “that’s the one I want”. So I spoke to ubu about my likes and dislikes to try and work out what I should do. They really listened and heard what I was saying and were great in helping me recognise my strengths.
This led to me applying for a volunteer position at the Library, as I love books (always have) and I love getting things organised, so this is the exact kind of role that would be right for me. The Library gave me the thumbs up and I have now started my induction with them.
Consider me one happy bookworm!
