A fond farewell

3rd March 2014

Well, what can I say and where to start? I think I’ll begin with my first ever ubu realignment induction. From the sunshine showers to the torrentially wet ones; these few weeks were so energetic and informative. It felt very strange to be back at my desk when the realignment was all over!

Everyone was so friendly and in high spirits; the atmosphere was fantastic. It was a great achievement for me to see my designs around the camp and hear all the positive feedback from fellow members of staff.

My time with ubu has given me confidence, I have grown as a person and now view the world completely differently. Everyone at ubu has taught me something and allowed me to utilise my skills to their full potential; as ubu’s saying goes ‘treat a person as they are they will remain as they are, treat a person as they could be they will become what they should be’. This doesn’t just go for our consumers, it goes for everyone. I now realise there is huge potential in everyone; I understand the importance of each individual’s personal goals and how their achievements can change their lives. Everyone I have met at ubu has inspired me and supported me in ways they didn’t even know.

No two days at ubu have been the same. I must say one of my favourite (although cheesy) moments was making and watching everyone’s Christmas number one videos. A particular heart-warming moment for me was seeing the consumer’s faces at the Christmas party; the atmosphere and excitement was fantastic. I could see the excitement in their eyes and I knew they felt that they were being listened to and heard. The party wasn’t just for the staff’s benefit but a celebration for the people we serve and ubu teams, a chance to rejoice together.

I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at ubu. I really have enjoyed my time working with such amazing people and for an incredibly dedicated company. I will definitely be taking ubu’s values with me on my travels.
