I went to a horse riding stable near Harrogate on a very wet and blustery morning. I met up with James for his regular session with the Disabled Riders Group. James had also agreed to share the experience with a television crew from the BBC.
James rode around the outdoor ring on his horse ‘Prince’ and then took a short ride up a lane and back. In spite of the pouring rain, he rode steadily and confidently, impressing the film crew who carried on filming. He rode into the large indoor arena for a drier ride. James practiced some exercises to learn new skills and to improve those he has already achieved. He was really pleased to be able to share his success with everyone.
When the class was over, we went back to James’ house where he showed us around and introduced us to his house mates. James showed the BBC crew his room and they filmed him getting things tidy and put away in his drawers and cupboards.
Then it was time for James to get out and deliver leaflets to local houses. This is his part-time job. The camera crew followed James’ while he got his work done and they were very happy with the film they had made during the day. We were all inspired by how James likes to take on new challenges and enjoys his work. James you are a star!
